Getting a key and activation

The license key is issued in your account on micator.com and entered in the tracker: in the first-run wizard or in the panel. The general rules are on How the license works.

Getting a trial key

1. Open the sign-up page.
2. Fill in the Team name, Email, Password and Repeat password fields. The password must be at least 12 characters long.
3. Click Sign up. Your account opens on the Overview section.
4. Confirm your email. How to do this is shown at the top of your account in the message “Confirm your email. This unlocks the trial, payments and license transfer.” Until you confirm, the trial button is inactive. After confirmation, the Profile section shows “Email confirmed” under the Email field.
5. Click Try it for 14 days in the Overview section. The same button is in the Licenses section while it has no licenses.

Your account opens the Licenses section. The card of the new license is expanded: the title is “New installation” and the status is “Awaiting activation”. If the card is closed, click Manage in the license row.

The card shows the first and last four characters of the key. Click Show to see the whole key, or Copy to copy it. If the browser did not allow copying, click Show and copy the key manually.

The key looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX: Latin letters and digits from 2 to 7, case does not matter. One trial license is issued per account. The 14 days are counted from the first successful activation on a server, not from the moment you get the key — see Trial.

Entering the key in the first-run wizard

The key is entered at step 2 of the wizard, in the License («Лицензия») block below the owner password.

1. Expand the License block if it is collapsed. With the “Required for panel access” («Для доступа к панели») mark, the block is already expanded.
2. Paste the key into the License key («Ключ лицензии») field.
3. Fill in the other fields of the step — they are described on First-run wizard.
4. Click Launch tracker («Запустить трекер»).

The wizard checks only the key format. With the “Required for panel access” mark, the form will not submit without a key. After the start, the tracker activates the key on its own; there is no separate step. With the “Optional” («Необязательно») mark, you can leave the field empty and enter the key later in the panel.

When you restore from a backup, the key is entered in the New license key («Новый ключ лицензии») field of the restore block, or in the panel after the restore — see Transferring a license to another server.

Activation in the panel

Only the installation owner can activate the key — the owner account created when the tracker was installed. Other owners and admins see the license state and terms without a key field.

1. Log in to the panel as the installation owner.
2. Find the Micator license («Лицензия Micator») block. While the license is not active, it is shown right after login on the “Tracker access closed” («Доступ к трекеру закрыт») screen. If the panel opened, open Settings → License («Настройки → Лицензия»).
3. Paste the key into the License key field. The characters are hidden as you type.
4. Click Activate («Активировать»). The button is inactive until the key matches the XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX format.

After activation, the “Tracker access closed” screen changes to the panel. The Settings → License tab shows the message “License confirmed. Queue delivery resumed.” («Лицензия подтверждена. Отправка очереди возобновлена.»)

All users see the “Tracker access closed” screen while the license is not active. Traffic and incoming conversions are still recorded during this time. A user without installation owner rights sees “Contact the installation owner to renew.” («Для продления обратитесь к владельцу установки.»), and the Log out («Выйти») button ends the session. Checking

1. Open Settings → License.
2. Make sure the Micator license heading is followed by “License active” («Лицензия активна») and the “Trial” («Пробная версия») or “Subscription” («Подписка») label.
3. Check the date in the Paid / trial until («Оплачено / пробный период до») line.

The installation owner sees the last four characters of the key in the field caption: License key · …XXXX («Ключ лицензии · …XXXX»). In your account, after you refresh the page, the Licenses section shows the license status “Active”, the panel domain in the Domain column, and “Bound” in the Server row of the card.

Key for test and commercial builds

A key works only with the tracker build it was issued for. A key for the test build has the mark “Test key · for the test build” in the license card. Such a key does not activate in the commercial build, and a key without the mark does not activate in the test build. The installation command is shown in your account: the Overview section, the Installation block.

If something went wrong

“Enter the key XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.” («Введите ключ XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.»)

A wizard message: the key does not match the format. Copy the key with the Copy button: four groups of four characters separated by hyphens, without spaces. The key has no digits 0, 1, 8 or 9.

“License expired, revoked or bound to another installation” («Лицензия истекла, отозвана или привязана к другой установке»)

The license service rejected the key. Check in your account, in the Licenses section:

• the key was entered without typos — compare it with what the Show button displays. After the server is unbound, the license has a new key, and the old one is not accepted;
• the license status is not “Expired”, “Suspended” or “Revoked”;
• the status is not “Transfer”: after the server is unbound, the new key can be activated only after the time shown in the card;
• the Domain column shows “not bound” or the panel domain of this installation. Another domain means the license is taken by another installation. For another server, a new installation or a new panel domain, you need a transfer.

“The key is for a different installer version. Use the install command from your Micator account” («Ключ предназначен для другой версии установщика. Используйте команду установки из кабинета Micator»)

“License service unavailable; we will retry the check automatically” («Сервис лицензий недоступен; повторим проверку автоматически»)

The tracker did not get a response from the license service: there is no connection, or the service is temporarily not responding. Wait a minute and click Activate again. If the message repeats, check that the server can reach the license service — see Network and time on the server.

The panel is closed after the wizard, with the “Activation required” («Требуется активация») state

The key was not entered in the wizard, the tracker has not activated it yet, or the service did not accept it. If you entered the key, wait a minute: the screen refreshes on its own. If the state did not change, enter the key in the License key field and click Activate. If the service refuses, the error text appears under the Micator license heading.
